BioCity Nottinghamis one of the largest Bioscience incubators in Europe.And it has developed rapidly since it was created. It providesfacilities, services and business support to early stage companies in the lifesciences sector.

Team provides support for more than 150 companies, which operates a series of Innovation Engine Bootcamps, helping successfully to create over thrity (real ore virtual) coporations. Additionally, in order to support the new companies, BioCity founded a mentor network including eighty thought leaders and successful entrepreneurs, VC and business experts.

Nine years after BioCity was founded, it createdthe Scotland branch near Glasgow. And MediCity was established in Nottingham inthe cooperation with Boots Company.

More than 200 companies have been successfully createdbenefiting from BioCity’s business incubation services, which has raised over 50million dollars in original funding. Over the past 13 years, there was a survival rateof up to 91% among companies supported by BioCity through various aspects,demonstrating strongly the achievement of the opearating model of BioCity,which has enabled all segments of BioCity to become an Internation Center forlife science entrepreneurship.

Nottingham has long been animportant centre for bioscience research, principally through work done at theUniversity of Nottingham, Nottingham Trent University and by Boots, Britain's largestretail pharmacy company. Although Boots no longer engages in drug discovery, Ibuprofen(iso-butyl-propanoic-phenolic acid) was created by Boots scientists inNottingham. In March 2005 Nottingham was named as a Science City;the other 5 Science Cities were Birmingham, Bristol, York, Newcastle and Manchester.
