Innovative design is used in many areas, and ideas can be used to find new ways to solve problems. This time we will introduce four different cases, including architecture, biology and landscape design, to see how they do it.
1. S.C. ARHITECTURAL CODE S.R.L

Architectural Code pushes the architectural design in Romania by combining research on the developments in contemporary life and, not least, the personality and wishes of our beneficiaries. Our goal is to reach the ideal architectural solution.We provide all kind of services related tothe design of the building in order to provide a complete response to the customer’s requirements.
We are a team of specialists in architecture, urbanism, design, installation, structure, and not least in psychology and sociology. Team A-CODE perfectly combines the young spirit, hardworking and visionary skills of it’s founders with experience inconstruction and design of our collaborators.
Each project is viewed as being unique, inrespect of the five main areas: architectural and technical quality, solutions for architectural and structural flexibility, adaptation to customer requirements, efficiency and intelligent allocation of resources. We listen carefully, solve pragmatically and design creatively, building the beneficiaries ideas and expectations into reality.
What is the social impact of your business?
We are different from other architects, we see beyond the image. When we have acustomer, we treat in totally the work he brings it: in terms of functional, economic, what psychological state will bring the space to those who use it, what impact will bring the building exterior, what message we want to send, how we could save energy, what he wants and what the customer needs. Among the first proposals always insert a proposal from unconventional materials (materials we choose depending on the location of the building) maritime containers, bales of straw, local materials etc. And in interior design projects we try to save material and space using transformable furniture designed entirely by us. Usually Romanians accept conventional variants and we hit by arigid mentality to change, but we do not give up. In future we intend to invest in a transformable furniture line signed by the Architectural Code team.
What do you want to achieve by being part of Impact Hub Scaling?
From this program primarily want to make ourselves known, to become more visible both on the national and on the international, to develop and create new jobs. As for that we have to develop ourselves as:
● Creating an environment of solid images online
● Better promote our services
● A better organization
● Strengthening relationships with companies from other countries – who have similar experiences to share exchange or other service profile etc.
● Development department creation of transformable furniture
● Promotion of our services of design houses maritime container.
We also wish to develop capabilities for marketing environmental architectural services in new markets in the EU.
2. Dizainăr

2. Dizainăr
Dizainăr sells and promotes Romanian Design. Their aim is to bring international recognition to Romanian designers and become the meeting point for value in creativity on the Romanian Market. While Dizainăr sell over 600 types of products in their online stores, the enterprise is more than just a retail channel, working as a hub that connects the creators, the manufacturers and the clients, irrespective if it concerns existing products or design services provided by their growing community. Dizainăr was launched by a team who understand the challenges of choosing a design career, especially in Romania where low access to production equipment and the smaller market for creative products make it extremely difficult for innovators and entrepreneurs to choose a career path fitting their passion.
What is the social impact of your business?
Dizainăr currently supports and promotes a community of 120 Romanian designers.
What do you want to achieve by being part of Impact Hub Scaling?
We want to develop retail partnerships to sell Romanian products in other EU market and manufacturing partnerships with be spoke production companies to improve delivery time on large orders.
3. PHEE

3. PHEE
After 2 years of Research & Development, PHEE is the first company worldwide to ever introduce into the market a natural bio-based composite material, for the development of which, dead leaves of the vascular sea grass Posidonia Oceanica are used as the raw material. Posidonia Oceanica is annually washed up in abundance on the Mediterranean shores and is, according to researchers, one of the oldest living organisms on Earth.
The commercialization of PHEE products will lead the path to the integration of composites manufactured from raw materials (which until today were considered waste) in industrial applications, as highly valued engineering materials. PHEE is about to launch its first product line under the brand name PHEEMADE. The first products will be cases for iPhones & Skins for MacBooks. PHEE is driving change in the design world, having its top priority being the fusion of innovative design and science for improving the build environment and human health.
What is the social impact of your business?
Our social mission is to recycle the dead leaves of sea plants, such as Posidonia Oceanica, which decompose before the winter season and dead biomasses (dead seaweed tissues). Unfortunately, seagrass biomass waste has not yet been efficiently used in the markets. Some is incinerated on the beaches, whereas the rest of the quantity is collected by local municipalities and is then incinerated at landfills, ultimately leading to a substantial budget allocation. According to our research, the collection and incineration of seagrass biomasses in Greece costs approximately 30.000 euros for each coastal Municipality.
Our objectives are the following:
● Stimulate awareness regarding collection and commercial use of this unique raw material.
● Expand commercial use borders to innovative as well as established product categories, through our research & development framework, which is based on the unique attributes of our raw material.
● Promote environmental and social responsibility throughout our valuechain.
What do you want to achieve by being part of Impact Hub Scaling?
We want to find strategic partners and retailers in order to sell our first product line in Europe. We are also open to new designers to test our material and design with us new products.
4. FATHER NATURE

4. FATHER NATURE
Father Nature is a landscape design company focused on sustainable community gardening projects and events to connect the people of Lambeth, London (particularly its low income families and schoolchildren) with nature and healthy living. Community engagement is core to our ethos; sharing the creative process has shown us this is an effective way to secure longevity of community interest and participation, and a sense of public ownership. We want to scale so that we can expand our reach beyond Lambeth where we are based, to other London boroughs and communities across the UK.
What is the social impact of your business?
Father Nature’s "horticultural social intervention" has shown impact in the areas of education, community building/social cohesion, mental and physical health, local employment, and the environment.
What do you want to achieve by being part of Impact Hub Scaling?
FNlogo_FinalWe want to secure Father Nature as a social enterprise with longevity, broad social impact, and a robust financial future. We want to maximise income streams and innovate new projects with both financial and social value. We want to become investment ready and secure funding to scale creatively and responsibly. Most of all we want to share both what’s good about Father Nature so that other Hubbers can profit from our experience, and learn from all the amazing innovators across the Hubs so that we might do what we do better!
